At least one high-ranking politiko is excited to meet Leni Robredo. It’s not President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, though.
That person is outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay, who Camarines Sur Rep. Robredo will succeed come June 30.
“Please accept my sincerest congratulations on your proclamation as Vice President of the Republic…I look forward to personally meeting you,” Binay wrote in a letter addressed to the solon. The letter is dated May 31.
“I am confident that with you as the next Vice President, the OVP (Office of the Vice President) will continue to be an instrument for social justice,” added Binay.
Robredo won the vice presidential race last month by less than 300,000 votes against Senator Bongbong Marcos. Since then, Duterte–who considers Marcos a friend–has given Robredo the cold shoulder.
The incoming Vice President has expressed a desire to pay a courtesy call to Duterte, but nothing has been cast in stone.
Before that, “Digong” denied plans of giving Robredo a Cabinet post, which is something that has been traditionally done.
