It can be recalled that Duterte has expressed that he is favor of the dictator's burial at the 'Libingan ng mga Bayani'  saying that Marcos deserves to be there. He noted that it is time to put an end to the issue that has divided the country for so long.

But Fr. Reyes, have utterly disagreed and urged the Marcos family to bury him elsewhere saying ""Ang laki na raw po ng utang ninyo sa kuryente. Para mabayaran niyo na ang utang niyo, unplug niyo na at ilagay niyo sa proper mausoleum ang labi ng inyong ama,". He was referring to the mausoleum in which his remains rest temporarily, located at his hometown at Batac, Ilocos Norte.

Meanwhile, Duterte still stands with his decision and announced that the transfer would take place in early September.
