Manila,Philippines – The Solicitor General Jose Calida told the media that he is currently studying the filing of a lawsuit against Senator Leila De Lima over the proliferation of drugs during her time as the Department of Justice secretary on Monday at the Camp Crame.

Calida alongside with Philippine National Police Director Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said that the office of the solicitor general will help any police personnel subjected to legal “harassment” filed against them while they are performing their duties.

The first week of the Duterte presidency was embroiled with mass murders of suspected drug offenders in the country, a thing that alarmed the senator who vows to push for a senate inquiry over the extra judicial killings.

However, Calida affirmed that they will have their backing and support in cases where any police personnel will be apprehended for the senate investigation.
He was quoted saying, “”Don’t be afraid of any Senate or Congress investigation. We will defend you.”

Calida, once the Undersecretary of Justice, said that they will prohibit anybody to distract the efforts of the PNP to curve criminality and drugs, as well as encourage the policemen to attend any congressional probe if necessary, else they would advice not to do so.
The top lawyer said that anybody who accuses the law enforcer should provide a reliable proof of the irregularities in its operation.

He cited Article 11 of the revised penal code that there are justified situations when law enforcers can legally kill a suspect during an encounter.

“We will not allow the police officers to be killed in the line of duty. We have our laws according to the revised penal code [he said in Filipino]… Article 11 there are justified circumstances when the police can legally kill a criminal or suspect,” he said.

Calida urges the senator to review her criminal law as well as to try “shabu” so she could experience how it affects the human body.

The act of the senator was “not an investigation in aid of legislation, nevertheless an investigation in aid of media mileage,” according to Calida.

De Lima, however, was not intimidated by the solicitor general’s statements and that she’s not surprised that they would label her as a protector of drug personalities.

She insisted that there are “telltale signs” that some are killed via summary executions and expresses her lack of faith in the statements that the suspect retaliates resulting to their demise.
