LA UNION - By virtue of three search warrants, Bureau of Customs gatekeeper Roberto Abalos was arrested at his home in Barangay Poro, San Fernando City, Thursday night.
According to Police Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, provincial director of La Union Police Provincial Office, Abalos has been planning to surrender but Oplan Double Barrel arrested him first.
"Ang nakikita natin kasi, he is a member of the Flores Drug Group," Dumangeng said.
Flores-Galves Drug Group is one of the two drug groups in San Fernando City.
Confiscated in Abalos' possession were five heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu and live ammunition. Abalos has been working in the Bureau of Customs for 26 years.
In an earlier statement, the provincial director directed San Fernando City's chief of police to mark Barangay Poro as one of the target points for suspected drug trades.
