MOISES Padilla, Negros Occidenta Mayor,Magdaleno Peña blamed former President Benigno Aquino III and former Interior secretary,Manuel Roxas II for the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.

Peña made this statement Thursday after a,meeting with the mayors in Negros Occidental, along with Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson; Julius Navales, director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (NIR); and Chief,Superintendent Conrado Capa, director of Police Regional Office-NIR, to discuss strategies in the, implementation of the government’s anti-drug campaign.

Peña, who backed the bid of President Rodrigo Duterte, asked why Aquino and Roxas allowed the drug menace “to grow by leaps and bounds” for six years without doing anything.
“If Roxas won as president, what will happen to Negros Occidental and the Philippines? It will be like Mexico,” he added.
He said the “Aquino years and Roxas years were a mistake.”

Moreover, the mayor stressed that Negros Occidental “made an honest mistake” since majority of Negrenses voted for Roxas.
“If he won, even your dog might turn into a drug addict,” Peña quipped.
Peña said the anti-drug campaign of the government needs the support of the local chief executives.
“We all want the drug menace to stop,” he said.
During the meeting, Peña said that most of the mayors got “overwhelmed” by the number of drug users and pushers who surrendered to the police.
