The Bureau of Customs proudly announced today that starting on October 25, 2016, small packages with a value of Php10,000 will no longer be taxable.
This is in accordance with the Customs Administrative Order (CAO) No. 02-2016 that imported goods with de minimis value not subject to duties and taxes; signed by the Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon last September 28, 2016.
The new regulation was approved by the Finance Secretary Carlos Dominquez III. The BOC understands that purchasing goods and other items have evolved through the influence of the internet, but BOC reiterates that there are still some exclusion from non-taxable packages that are worth Php10,000.00 and below such as tobacco goods, wines and spirits are still be subject to taxes as per the National Internal Revenue Code.
This is good news for Filipinos, who can now fully enjoy their small purchases from other countries. I trust that everyone will strictly abide by the provisions of the CAO- Commissioner Faeldon.
