• Ronnie Dayan’s daughter Hanna Mae testified before the House Committee on Justice
  • She showed to committee members De Lima’s text message urging her father to hide and snub the House probe
  • Senator De Lima’s text messages border on obstruction of justice and contempt for interfering in the proceedings, says a committee member

Ronnie Dayan’s daughter, Hanna Mae Dayan, testified at the House inquiry on the proliferation of illegal drugs in New Bilibid Prison on Thursday, November 24.

Hanna Mae showed to members of the House Committee on Justice the exchange of text messages between her and Senator Leila De Lima on October 1, 2016.

As mentioned in a Rappler story, Ronnie Dayan, former driver and boyfriend of Senator De Lima, received on September a subpoena from the House of Representatives Committee on Justice for him to attend the probe it is conducting. Dayan told his daughter Hanna Mae to ask advice from the senator through a text message.

Dayan asked his daughter to tell De Lima that he is willing to attend the House inquiry. In her reply to Hanna Mae’s text message, De Lima asked her to tell her father to hide and skip the House probe because his presence would just stir controversy.

Here’s the exchange of text messages between Hanna Mae and Senator De Lima:

Hanna Mae: “Hi Tita. Good PM po. Mi pinapatanong po si pah. Bakit daw po mi dumating na supwena sa kanya at ano gagawin nia?” [Father told me to ask you why a subpoena was sent to him and what should he do?]

De Lima: “Pakisabi sa kanya magtago muna siya…kagagawan yan nila Speaker Alvarez at dikta ni Digong. Pagpipiyestahan lang siya at kaming dalawa kapag mag-appear siya sa hearing na yan. [Please tell him to hide… that’s the handiwork of Speaker Alvarez as dictated by Digong. They will just feast on him and the two of us if he appears in that hearing.]
Hanna Mae: “Hindi naman po ba sya huhulihin kapag hindi siya pumunta?” [Will he not be arrested if he does not attend?]
De Lima: “’Di ba nagtatago naman siya?” [Isn’t he in hiding anyway?]
Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Fariñas said the alleged text messages of Senator De Lima border on obstruction of justice and contempt for interfering in the proceedings.
