Department of Budget and Management announced that starting January 1, 2017, government nurses, teachers, policemen, soldiers and other government workers will receive a bigger take home pay.
It’s a good news that President Duterte didn’t fail his promise to increase the wage of the government workers.
This is what the Duterte administration’s grant to the wish of the people to raise the salary of the government workers and uniformed personnel.
One of the campaign promise of President Duterte is to increase the wage of the government workers especially the uniformed personnel which he needed in his fight against illegal drugs.
“These are the people who help and protect the Philippines. We want them to feel satisfied about their jobs, inspire them to be more productive workers and allow them to provide for their families. Raising their wages is only just,” said President Duterte.
Duterte failed to grant his promise to the uniformed personnel to double their wage within 2016, but DBM Secretary Diokno said that they would be able to comply with the desire of the President to double their take home pay by January 2018.
Despite of that, the PNP was still grateful for the incremental salary hike.
“Malaking tulong na mapalaki ang take home pay ng ating mga pulis. But at the end of the day, we are here as members of the PNP to provide service,” PNP spokesman Dionardo Carlos said.
